Welcome to Demelza Cottage - nestled in the heart of the Cornish Countryside

Demelza is a quiet, sleepy little hamlet in the parish of St Wenn, yet it is famous for providing Winston Graham with the name of one of his key characters in the Poldark series. It is THE original Demelza, the birthplace of the name, whose origins are thought to derive from the Celtic word for hill fort. This would make sense as there are still earthworks from an ancient fort or castle, visible today.

Its central location means visitors can easily explore Cornwall's main attractions including Tintagel, Port Isaac, Eden Project, St Ives, Lands End and St Michael's Mount. And at the end of the day, relax in the peaceful surroundings of Demelza Cottage and admire one of the spectacular sunsets that we are lucky enough to witness on every fine day.

Demelza Cottage is also a 15 to 20-minute drive from the north and south coast, meaning visitors can choose which beaches to visit depending on the wind and weather forecast.

For the business traveller, Demelza Cottage provides a warm welcome from the homogenised offer of hotel living. The apartment makes a good stopover for a team of tradespeople, while the B&B provides a hearty breakfast with homemade produce and quiet, off-road parking.

Whatever the reason for visiting, business or pleasure, be sure to immerse yourself in the full Cornish experience while you are here.
